Fulfilling its task to provide Filipino parents vital information about caring for and raising their child, SmartParenting.com.ph the largest parenting news and lifestyle brand in the country, successfully held the first leg of Smart Parenting Mom Workshops on May 14, 2016 in Richmonde Hotel, Ortigas.

Marylaine Viernes hosted the event

“Smart Parenting Mom Workshops allow our readers to learn directly from industry experts, and it gives them a chance to ask questions, learn and interact with fellow parents,” said Lei Dimarucut-Sison, Smart Parenting Managing Editor. “This is our way of helping Filipino moms and dads be the best parents they can be, and raise smart and loving children.”

The first leg is dedicated to parents who have toddlers—children ages 2 to 4 years old. That’s why I’m interested in this event because I have toddler, my daughter is in terrible 3’s. hahaha!

In this workshop, experts discussed 3 important and interesting topics: effective storytelling tips, feeding and nutrition, and disciplining children.

The first speaker is one of the country’s leading breastfeeding experts, Velvet Escario-Roxas, shared her knowledge about feeding “picky eaters.” Velvet is an international resource person who holds regular classes and seminars such as Tamang Kain: Infant and Child Feeding and Nutrition. She is also the Deputy Executive Director of Arugaan, a support system for women with infants and young children

Then Gutch Gutierrez, talked about the value of storytelling. Gutch is an author and illustrator of children’s books, whose most noteworthy work, Day of Darkness, won a Kid’s Choice Awards at the National Children’s Book Awards in 2014. He is also the man behind the YouTube channel StoryTellerMNL, where they read children’s books from the Philippines.

Another speaker was Michelle Lichauco-Tambunting Ed.M, the co-founder and Directress of Young Creative Minds Preschool, who talked about disciplining toddlers, instilling values in them, and teaching them to be independent.

This event is initiated by SmartParenting.com.ph with major sponsors Belo Baby, Calpol, and Insular Life, which also prepared talks to further discuss and address the concerns of parents about skin, health, and money.

Belo Baby’s Brand Manager Joyce Delos Reyes enlightened the participants with the newest Belo Baby Line that guarantees to provide a beautiful and delicate skin care for babies with 100% certified natural ingredients and 0% harmful chemicals.

Model, blogger, columnist, and Belo Baby’s mombassador, Kelly MisaHernandez, shared her experience as a first-time mother and how she overcame the struggle of finding the perfect baby skin products that suits her son’s sensitive skin.

Belo Baby gift packs were given to moms who were able to answer
Kelly’s quick quiz about the products!

GSK Brand Marketing Associate for Calpol, Sinecod and Voltaren Jhett Chantl Yu shared insights about their new campaign “Calpol Make No Mistake,” where they conducted a survey to parents and healthcare experts on the challenges that they face as parents.

Cathy Bautista, who used to work as an executive in the banking industry and now a financial adviser of Insular Life, ended the discussions with one the most important subject parents need to know, money. She talked about Financial 101 for all mom

Thank you to all the sponsors! ^_^
